Super interesting and different place to visit. The train is being restored by a bunch of really passionate volunteers. We got a really detailed account of how trains shaped Albuquerque into what it is, and that was great. Plus, you get to sit inside of it.

When we arrived there was a crew to greet us. We were given a detailed hands on tour. We climbed all through the cab and around the the set. Wonderful information and nice and unusual items to purchase. Will be going again.

Santa Fe 2926, the Spirit of Steam

In 1944, the Santa Fe Railway took delivery of engine no. 2926. The largest and most advanced of her type, AT&SF 2926 regularly hauled passenger trains at 100 mph between Kansas City, Albuquerque, and San Diego. When diesel engines took over in the 1950's,  2926 went on public display in Albuquerque's Coronado Park. Volunteers began restoration work 20 years ago. After 170,000 volunteer hours and 3 million dollars in donations, the 2926 will soon rule the rails once again.
